Valleviken – constant change

Valleviken is a busy and developing village that experienced and survived the challenges of time. It’s a village where people love to live and to work the whole year around.

Valleviken belongs to the small community Rute, with about 40 enterprises and 17 active clubs and associations. Rute’s community hall “Folkets hus” is an important place for cultural life i.e. theatre, music and dance

The limestone industry had its prime time from 1919 to 1947, when the factory in the harbour was closed. At that time a tough setback for the area. But today Valleviken has recovered and the number of inhabitants is increasing again.

Bitte and Lasse Ljung are now running Valleviken’s Holiday and Conference Resort on the old factory property. Here you’ll find “Sjökrogen”, an awarded restaurant which is selected to the exclusive list of “Sveriges bästa bord”. Part of the property is also a small boat harbour with berths for guests and a beach, of course.
