At „Valla Änge“in Valleviken the Vikings already organized the ”Ting” and celebrated parties. Today the people of Valleviken meet here to enjoy their Midsummer festival.
Outside of Valleviken there are many old limestone quarries and limestone ovens as well as “Fardume castle”, ruins of an old farmhouse from where visitors have a view over “Fardumes” wetland, a big lake full of birds.
Easy to reach by bike is Kyllaj, an old limestone harbour with nice limestone ovens. Not far away is also Strandridaregården, a farmhouse museum from the 18th century. Worth to visit is Husken nature reserve and Lergrav, an area of Rauka with the famous “gate of love” and an old fisher village nearby.
Between Husken and Legrav you take the turn to the island Furillen with its famous Design Centre “Fabriken på Furillen” The Bungemuseum in the village Bunge is one of the largest open air museum in Sweden and has a cosy café and a museums shop. The Hau Gård between Bunge and Ar is hosting an exclusive exhibition of glasdesigner Göran Wärff own glas and products of other modern designers. In a distance of almost 10km from Valleviken Fårösund is located. Here you will find all kind of shops and facilities like Bank, Systembolaget and the ferry to Farö. In Farösund, close to the sea a big natural golf course is under progress. Driving westward via Rute Kyrka will lead to Groddagården, an old place for Musicians in Fleringe. Continue driving in westerly direction to Bläse at Kappelhamnsviken for visiting the Bläse Limestone museum. .
