Restaurant Sjökrogen is selected as one of Sweden’s best restaurants and listed in the restaurant guide "Sveriges Bästa Bord". Sjökrogen strives for serving excellent dishes by using locally produced gotlandic ingredients.
One of the culinary highlights is the crisp and fresh asparagus. It is growing in the neighbourhood of Sjökrogen and can be picked up by bicycle. The spicy kaipsoup is another example and has a long history on Gotland. Kaip is wild growing gotlandic leek and was an obligatory dish of the local Vikings. It was served in spring before their ships were launched in order to spent power and courage after a long and weakening winter.
Sjökrogen is serving original gotlandic salmon, prepared in many different ways, lamb dishes, vegetables from local farmers and seasonal berries. The bread is baked in Valleviken’s wood fired stone oven. In autumn finally we will get what were waiting for: Gotland truffles, served in many variations.
